It gives me great pleasure and honor to be the President of Calgary East Rotary club for 2018 – 2019 term. The vision statement of Rotary, reflects our aspirations for our organization and its future. It reads, “Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.”
This simple sentence well explains, what is essential about Rotary. We unite, because we know that we are far stronger together than be alone. We take action, because we not only dream, but take active part to create lasting change that will sustain long after our involvement has ended across the globe and in our communities. And perhaps most important of all, we work to create change in ourselves – not just building a better world around us, but becoming better people ourselves.
I have joined Rotary (Rotary Club of Calgary East) in 1999. I really like and support all the community programs like pancake breakfasts in various schools, community associations and senior’s association, undertaken by our club for many years and hope will run for years to come and which reflects that Rotary Be the Inspiration for our communities by doing good work. I also support international projects like Global Polio Eradication, Clean Drinking Water and Sanitization projects undertaken by various Rotary Clubs in under developed countries. I am really fortunate to complete two international projects, one on “Rain Water Flood in Guwahati, India in 2004 and another in Maripora, Brazil Supplying 6 computer with printers and other accessories in a local public library. Both the projects were funded by Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. Apart from all these local community and international projects, I like to see more collaboration with Rotaract clubs.

Finally, be the Inspiration – and together we can, and we will, inspire the world.

ARUP GOSWAMI,
President,
Rotary Club of Calgary East.
